Ron Wood

As the Director of Pricing Insight and one of Australia's leading pricing experts, Ron has trained over one thousand senior executives in Value Based Pricing techniques and margin enhancement strategies.  He has devised unique and internationally recognised programs, equipping executives into dealing with pricing challenges in a practical and pragmatic way

His unique approach to consulting is the result of delivering real world pricing solutions for over fifteen years to ASX and NYSE listed companies in Australasia, South East Asia and the USA.  His experiences span industries of manufacturing, financial services, construction, captial equipment, metals, retail FMCG, air frieght, tourism and agriculture

Ron was one of the first dedicated commercial Pricing Managers in Australia developing a national pricing strategy for iconic Australian brand Arnotts biscuits. Key achievements in this new greenfields role was the development of a national pricing team aligned to key retail channel, the development, implementation and management of a sophisticated statistical modeling toolsets, publication of a national trades spend pricing strategy and a profit improvement of over 5 million dollars EBIT in 12 months resulting from the implementation of a tradespend optimization strategy.

Ron has worked in the development of pricing strategy for Fortune 500 capital equipment manufacturers such as NMHG and ASX listed building materials companies including Capral Aluminium and Carter Holt Harvey. His commercial experience spans Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and the United States, as well as working with businesses from Italy, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Indonesia, Vietnam and French Polynesia.

His consulting clients include some of Australia’s largest Private Equity, ASX and Fortune 500 listed companies and he works with C-Level and Senior Sales, Marketing and Finance executives to build commercially effective margin improvement solutions.  He is the author of a comprehensive executive course in strategic pricing management and value pricing techniques which he has now taught to over 350 senior sales and marketing executives across Australia and New Zealand

With 20 years business experience, Ron’s has wide industry experience across the value chain from food and building manufacturers, wholesalers through to retail chains such as Woolworths, Coles, Bunnings and Mitre 10.  Ron works closely with sales, marketing and commercial teams to develop value based pricing solutions for contract negotiations with procurement teams and cost down consultants working on behalf of your customers


Joanna Wells

Joanna Wells is a Senior Associate at Pricing Insight responsible for managing recruitment and training for pricing and commercial finance executives. Prior to joining Pricing Insight, Joanna acquired eight years experience in talent management, including executive recruitment and clinical psychology

She has worked as an associate psychologist for specialist mental health services in the UK, and then joined the Social Services in England where she provided specialist social and mental health services in the greater London area. After that, she worked with Ernst and Young and later KPMG to develop talent management processes. In particular, she designed and implemented a new knowledge based leadership selection framework for accounting professionals and managed assessment centres for executives chosen for leadership potential programs

Joanna has also worked in Ireland as an HR consultant for Ulster Bank – a subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Scotland. Here, Joanna managed the full recruitment life cycle for Ulster Bank’s business sector banking. This involved developing its in-house executive recruiting and selection unit and filling all senior executive positions across Ireland

Joanna received her BA (Hons) from the University of Cambridge and her Msc in Organisational Psychology from The University of Manchester. In addition, she has a professional post graduate diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and counselling psychology from the Metanoia Institute, London.  Joanna is fully qualified in the area of assessment and selection holding current certification in psychometric testing (level A & B) and competency based interviewing from the British Psychological Society
