Key Areas of Value Add

The following is a basic description of the ways in which you can add value to this business.
You should understand key pricing techniques and be looking to develop your pricing skill set to become the pricing expert within the business. Analyse tenders and contract bids using existing customer data, bid history and competitive information to ensure profitability.
Mange contract structures using product pricing, performance based rebates and bundled trading agreements. Communicate with the sales force and sales management by providing pricing information and financing terms to assist the sales force in customer negotiations. Participate in real-time, competitive supplier auctions for a large customer by submitting item pricing and directly competing with other suppliers to earn new business.

Recommend changes in pricing strategy to improve profitability in the product mix, pricing arrangements or contract terms by analysing customer bid and purchasing history.
Recommend differentiated pricing strategies by comparing potential versus existing customers using factors such as the customer life cycle stage.
Develop and enhance existing analysis reports by extracting existing customer pricing data to identify new strategies in the areas of customer rebates, margin enhancement, finance terms and shipping rates.

Management Skill set

  • Identify and recommend process and productivity improvements to ensure optimal pricing outcomes for the business.  Ability to manage and plan projects
  • Outcome focused and performance driven
  • Comfortable speaking in meetings and delivering effective presentations


Technical Skill Set

  • Excel modelling and pricing optimisation tool development
  • Ability to use statistical functions such as STDDEV & FREQUENCY
  • Knowledge of database functionality in EXCEL and functions such as VLOOKUP, IF, COUNT & TEXT to COLUMNS * Experience using a relational database-reporting cube such as Business Objects or COGNOS
