Skillset

The key theme across all of the roles advertised at the senior level is the ability to move beyond the technical and functional skills of EXCEL and Financial analysis.

These skills include commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and influencing skills.

A review of key skills required to be successful at the Strategic Pricing Management role level or equivalent can be seen in the descriptions below:

  • Effective partnering and communication with the key stakeholders in the business
  • Implementation of various projects linked to the pricing process
  • Ensure accuracy of prices in multiple invoicing systems
  • Identify and develop step change improvements in pricing processes and systems
  • Providing technical leadership and direction within the broader business on pricing.

The key area that makes a candidate valuable, is driven by the need to manage through the change process as pricing management is essentially a new discipline within the corporate landscape and many folk who hold traditional roles in sales, marketing or finance may not quite understand or appreciate a role dedicated to pricing management.

So in summary, success within the top end of this market segment lies with an individual's interpersonal skills, ability to manage change and communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise way.

Due to the fact that many companies today are a result of multiple acquisitions, the ability to manage multiple business invoicing systems and develop processes / policies to deal with large numbers of transactions is a critical pre-requisite for success.
